Hi Hope! Hi Hope! I’m Selling You My Soap

We are extremely excited to be gearing up for our first soap-selling event. The wonderful Hope Watermelon Festival 2022 between August 11-13 (Thursday through Saturday) will be our chance to get acquainted. While I am nervous, this will be a great opportunity to meet people and let some know about what I’ve been doing with my time.

Learning and doing this past couple of months has been a huge blessing to me. This has been the longest period of time that I have been unemployed in my adult life, including recovering from major surgery and having a child. God had me fired so I would take a small respite for myself. The experience was shattering, but I was freed to work on my mental health, something never treated as a priority. I have always had a codependent relationship with my job. Why deal with your own issues when you can bury yourself in work? Now I have the time and autonomy to re-balance my mind, body & spirit. Soap making has helped to focus on taking care of myself so that I can take care of my family.

Starting a business is for the Courageous

Time spent making soap is great for enriching the mind through quality media. Ted Talks, Audible and YouTube are all handy resources to find something that makes you smarter and better. That’s how I heard this quote from Brene Brown: “The fear of shame, the fear of criticism was so great in my life up until that point– I mean, just paralyzing– that I engineered smallness in my life.” This statement hit me so hard, right in my third eye. Can you relate to this quote like I did?

Can’t fail if you never try, so that brings us to July. I love making soap and learning the science behind the magic. It’s a balance of business, art, scent theory and patience. 3 Cords Creations will not sell soap online with the exception of custom orders. Since it’s just me making soap, I don’t want to risk not satisfying customers because I can’t keep up with demand. A benefit to selling soap at events only is that I get to meet all of my lovely, new patrons in person!

Bringing you the Fabulous Five

Let me introduce you to my first line up! 3 Cords Creations is offering five types of cold process soaps:

  • Watermelon
  • It’s Jade
  • Natural Honey
  • Carrot Eucalyptus
  • Green Dream

Often the appeal of homemade soap is that there are better-for-you ingredients. My mother is super sensitive to so many scents, artificial or natural. My beautiful daughter has acne-prone skin. They are my inspiration for offering soaps with a variety of features. I made Natural Honey for Mom & Green Dream with Emily in mind. We pH-test the soaps for safety because lye is used in the process. Our current soaps are all 4.5 ounce bars that last so much longer than “regular” soap. My dad even cuts his bars in half.

I am currently working on a page about different ingredients, the benefits of each and which are in my soaps.

Concentrating on only a few “flavors” at a time as I gain courage, we will offer more intricate designs and implement new, better ingredients as we grow. 3 Cords is offering custom soaps for events. I have been to so many weddings, corporate meetings or baby showers and tossed the “parting gift” straight into the trash. Everybody gets dirty. We can do sized, shapes, match colors to your theme, and create different looks & scents for your special soap. Personalized soap also includes particularly perfect packaging planned per patron. Soap can be made from a mother’s breast milk to produce the best possible care for your baby. Soap can be made from brewed beverages like coffee, tea and even beer! Different oils and additives add beneficial properties and personality.

Hi Hope! See you with some soap at the Watermelon Festival Aug. 11-13, Thurs-Sat
